How Augment Therapy Onboarded Nemours Children’s Health to ARWell PRO Across Pediatric Rehab
At Augment Therapy, we believe one of the most meaningful opportunities in pediatric rehabilitation today is the thoughtful integration of technology into clinical care. With ARWell PRO, we support clinicians in delivering engaging, movement-based therapy experiences through exergaming—an interactive blend of exercise and play that uses augmented reality to encourage participation.
Recently, Amy Pratt, PT, Director of Clinical Success at Augment Therapy, led the onboarding of a large pediatric rehabilitation team at Nemours Children’s Health in Delaware. Below is a behind-the-scenes look at how our team approaches onboarding at scale—and what we continue to learn from health system partners like Nemours.
Prep Work: Aligning on Vision and Goals
Before implementing any new technology, it’s critical to establish a shared understanding of how it fits into existing clinical workflows. During the early stages of onboarding, Amy focused on introducing ARWell PRO as a rehabilitation tool—one that leverages the camera on a tablet to track body movement and support interactive therapeutic activities.
While the platform provides the technology, successful implementation relies on clinician creativity and clinical judgment. To support this process, the Nemours team shared contact information for clinicians across 10 clinics or departments and identified 1–3 superusers or managers at each site. Once received, this information allowed Augment Therapy to create accounts for more than 130 clinicians across the system.
Building the Foundation: Training and Education
A well-prepared team is essential for adoption. Amy organized comprehensive virtual training sessions for rehab managers and designated superusers. Clinician accounts were created ahead of time so participants could explore the platform, try the games, and come prepared with questions.
Training included:
Interactive Workshops: Virtual sessions covering ARWell PRO videos, use cases, accessibility settings, equipment setup, and ways to tailor activities to individual patient needs.
Resource Materials: Ongoing access to troubleshooting guides, instructional videos, and follow-up emails designed to reinforce learning and serve as long-term references.
Customizing the Approach for Pediatric Care
Children have unique rehabilitation needs, and ARWell PRO continues to evolve through clinician and patient feedback. The development team works to ensure activities are age-appropriate, engaging, and aligned with therapeutic goals—balancing fun with clinical intent. Feedback from real-world use plays an important role in ongoing refinement of the platform.
Implementation and Ongoing Support
Following initial training, Amy continues to support implementation across Nemours rehabilitation departments and outpatient clinics. Key elements of this phase include:
Peer-Led Training: Superusers and managers help train additional staff.
Feedback Loops: Regular opportunities for clinicians to share insights and identify workflow considerations.
Support Resources: Direct access to clinical success support and an online knowledge base for reference.
Looking Ahead
Insights from the Nemours onboarding process are shaping future resources and support strategies, including:
Printable Welcome Kits that can be used as both digital and in-person references.
Data Awareness: Continued education on accessing session summaries, reviewing movement data, and monitoring home programs within ARWell PRO.
In-Person Engagement: A planned on-site visit in Delaware to support hands-on learning, Q&A, and shared best practices once clinicians have had time to use the platform with patients.
Onboarding a large pediatric rehabilitation team is a learning experience for everyone involved. We continue to refine our approach to support adoption, workflow integration, and clinical buy-in—recognizing that meaningful change takes time, even when innovation is compelling.
